Web site design and development

We specialise in robust, accessible web sites which are designed to work on any platform, with any web browser. All HTML is hand-coded and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used for presentation, as far as is practical with browsers in current usage. All code is validated for compliance and accessibility. Many companies waste money on web sites which are slow and difficult to use for many visitors. If you already have a web site, or you are thinking of using a web page generator to build your own, please consider these questions on its usability.

Domain name registration

If you want your web site to have an address like www.yourname.co.uk or www.yoursite.com then you will need your own domain name. A domain name will give you, or your company, your own distinct Internet identity which can be used for both web site and email addresses. Furthermore it will allow you to change your ISP (Internet Service Provider) without having to change these addresses.

First you will need to choose a suitable name that is not already registered by someone else. We can advise on the selection of a suitable name, (including whether to go for ".com" or ".co.uk", or one of many other possibilities), and we can register the domain for you in your name. (Beware of companies who would register your domain in their name.)

Web Hosting

There are a variety of options and prices for web hosting. We do not actually provide hosting services ourselves, so we can offer unbiased advice based on your individual requirements. We can also make all the necessary arrangements, if required.

Web site maintenance

Web site maintenance can keep your site up to date with your current product range or services and could also include the addition of new features or pages to your site.

We can maintain your site for you regardless of who built it originally, but sites built by us will probably cost less to maintain as they are designed with ease of maintenance in mind.

Maintenance may also include management of your domain name and any forwarding service.

Web site promotion

A web site is not much use if no-one knows it exists and no-one can find it. It needs to be known by search engines and web directories. We can register your site with major search engines and web directories, and can also monitor your ranking. All registration is done manually to ensure the best results.

Sites designed by Limax are naturally written to be "search engine friendly" but we can also suggest improvements to existing web sites to increase their search engine ranking. A badly designed web site may be completely ignored by search engines, as will sites which attempt to improve their ranking by underhand means.

Other methods of promotion may also be useful and we will advise, where appropriate.

Site health check

We can provide reports on your site with regard to:

• Usability - how easy is it to use and navigate?
• Accessibility - is it easy to access for those with disabilities?
• Code compliance - is the code free from errors?
• Cross-browser compatibility - does it display properly with different web browsers?
• Search engine ranking - how does it rate on search engines?, is it "search engine friendly"?
• Download time - is it quick to load?, are images optimised?
• Grammar, spelling and general readability

Prices

We do not provide off the shelf web site packages, with a fixed price per page or per image. Each site is considered individually and your web site will be designed to fit your requirements. The price will be set before work commences and will be both fair and competitive. At present there is no VAT charge and there are no hidden costs.
