Limax SNA Services
Full support of corporate SNA networks
SNA support
Systems Network Architecture (SNA) was the primary network system on IBM mainframes from the mid 70s until at least the mid 90s. Since then the IP suite of protocols (TCP/IP) have largely taken over due to the omnipresence of the Internet, but SNA still has an important role in legacy systems.
Due to the lack of recent development of SNA networks and their extreme reliability there has been little requirement for SNA expertise and consequently most specialists have moved on or retired. This means that when you do require the expertise it may be hard to find. We can provide support for SNA networks, VTAM hosts and NCPs.
SNA Network Management
We support both the major SNA Network Management systems, NetView and NetMaster, and we can provide enhancements and support programs using Rexx and NCL.
Routing Analysis
SNA routing in subarea networks is dependant on Path definition tables in each VTAM host and NCP. When the definitions need updating many companies find that the required expertise and documentation are no longer available. In these circumstances routing changes can become extremely disruptive.
Limax has developed its own routing analysis program which can analyse all the path tables within a network and report on all incomplete, looping and non-reversible routes. This can be used to analyse both the live definitions and proposed changes, enabling the error-free introduction of routing changes.
