About this web site
This web site is built using HTML 4.01 Strict markup, with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for presentation. No tables or frames are used - all positioning is handled by CSS. It is intended to be readable with any browser or platform, including older browsers and text-only browsers that do not support CSS, and browsers with partial or buggy CSS implementations. Optimum presentation will require a modern standards-compliant browser, but it should still be entirely readable and accessible with any browser or Internet device.
This allows us to produce an accessible web site which conforms to web standards and will continue to function correctly with new browsers and new platforms. This separation of presentation and content also produces simpler, smaller pages which load faster and are easier to maintain.
If you are using a visual browser but do not see a red column on the left-hand side you should consider updating your browser. If you are concerned about the disk and processing requirements of a newer browser you should be aware that you have a choice of web browsers and they are not all bloated and power-hungry. You can find out more about browser upgrades at the Web Standards Project's Browser Upgrade initiative.
Menu
Each page on this site includes a menu. The menu is divided into 4 sections: a general section concerning the company and the site, plus a section for each department (Web services, PC Services, SNA Services). The general section is always shown expanded, the other sections are only expanded when the current page is within the section.
On a modern standards-compliant visual browser the menu will be in a red column on the left hand side (unless you have over-ridden the style sheets). Pages you have not yet visited will be listed in white and pages you have visited in yellow. The current page should be indicated by a turquoise bar to the right of the item. When a mouse, or similar pointing device, is hovering over an item it should show as red on a pink background.
On other browsers the menu will be at the bottom of each page, with a link at the top of the page to take you straight to it. The menu items will be in standard link colours.
Other links
Other links, outside the menu, should display in standard link colours, normally blue for unvisited and purple for visited, and underlined. As with the menu items, a mouse or similar pointing device hovering over a link should display the link in red on a pink background if your browser supports this feature.
Clicking on any link will cause your browser to take its standard action, which will probably be to open the link in the same window. We take the view that it should be your choice whether to open links in new windows, not ours.
Logos
The logos beneath the menu indicate our commitment to web standards and accessibility.

Printing
